1. Wet and damp building materials need to be dried quickly. If not, mold will grow within approximately 2 days. People are apt to leave wet materials lying around in or outside the house. These things are very common to grow mold in your home.

2. Cleaning, disinfecting and drying surfaces with antibacterials and hydrogen peroxide prevents mold growth. Stagnant water contains much germs and can be of greater concern for disease causing bacteria rather than just an additional cause of mold.

3. Reduce moisture levels in the bathroom by running an exhaust fan during and after showers. Bathroom venting should be exhausted through roof sheeting rather than directly into the attic or through soffit vents.
If you have noticed how foggy the bathroom looks like after a shower, realize that those are moist places and a likely place for mold to develop.

4. Fix plumbing leaks and seepage to prevent the buildup of moisture and mold growth. Leaks are caused by pipes that have disintegrated already. Standard maintenance of pipes and and faucets should be done as a prevention method of mold.

5. Store clothing dry and clean to prevent the growth of mold on clothes.
It is best to keep used clothes dry. Better yet, wet clothes should be hung to dry. Try to put them outside or in places where there is air circulating.

6. Increase the flow of air and ventilation in your home. Move furniture away from walls and do not allow clothes to remain stacked against exterior walls. Soffit vents should be exhausted to attic and insulation should be pulled away from soffits to increase air flow.

7.  Condensation in walls and attics is a leading cause of mold in homes. Insulating walls and installing storm or thermal pane windows keeps walls warm and limits condensation
